So happy to have a neighborhood tavern open here. This is still a work in progress but you just can't go wrong with good drinks. Can't wait to try the burgers when the grill is up and running

Somehow I have never heard of this place. I think it must be newer. I have passed this building thousands of times but never paid much attention.
We came here for a cover band and enjoyed every minute of it. The beer menu is good and not overpriced. The bartenders are friendly and efficient. They have a limited food menu, though I did not try anything.
The women's bathroom was hella nicer than I expected it to be...if you know what i mean. Bar bathrooms are generally not that impressive. This one is a onesie and almost feels like someone's private bathroom in their home. A+ for that. Maybe I just caught it on a good night, not sure.
I will definitely check this place out again. -

Well I always say that spontaneous actions seem to be the most fun. Tonight the wife and I set out to find something to do. After visiting one of our usual hangouts we searched the web for Louisville events. Nothing really stood out and then she saw it, Black Crows cover band at the Mellwood Tavern. Being in our mid 40's it was an easy decision to go listen to music we know and love.
The tavern is what you would expect a neighborhood bar would be. Many different people from varied walks of life and ages. No stares from the regulars in judgement. The vibe felt good. My only issue was service, you can't tend bar with one person and a packed house. I am not familiar with the place but they really should have two people. They had a good selection of beer and spirits and the drinks were cold. We did not order food so I can't comment on that. In all it's a nice place and I would go back for another concert, the friendly people make it worth it. -

Big fan of Mellwood Tavern, especially on Tuesdays when they have their fried chicken! Its always so crispy and hot! You get 2 sides with it. I really like the spicy green beans, potato cake, or the fries. Always a interesting crowd with a mix of people from different backgrounds, ages, etc. Staff is always great and quick. Only down side is when they sell out of fried chicken when its busy and they only give you 2 ketchup packets when you order fries.

Small, local, hometown bar. Darts, outside seating. Lots of beer choices, liquor as well. The food is awesome, great bar food. Chicken tuesday rocks! Cheeseburger special on Mondays. Music on sundays! Gotta check this place out.....can't believe I have not been here before!
